Hosted by the Department of Packaging and Materials Technology, Faculty of Agro-Industry, Kasetsart University, this event will bring together leading researchers, industry experts, and thought leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. In May 2012, a group of packaging professionals from Korea, China, Thailand, and Japan gathered in Changwon, South Korea, to discuss a shared goal for creating a network of “Asia Packaging” dedicated to advancing packaging research and education in Asia. This marked the beginning of the Asia Packaging Network (APN), a collaborative effort aimed at fostering innovation and knowledge exchange in the packaging field.

The goal was clear–to establish a unique network focusing on the specific needs of Asia, different from existing global packaging networks. Soon after, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Brunei, and the Philippines joined the movement, broadening the network’s reach.

In 2013, APN’s vision began to take shape with the first conference in Korea, hosted by the Korea Society of Packaging Science and Technology. The network’s mission was set to promote academic programs, enhance research, and support industries, governments, and societies across Asia with cutting-edge packaging solutions.
